The Shop Assistant is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, and maintaining diesel and heavy equipment, as required, and fulfilling administrative functions required under the maintenance processes.

Calificaciones:

Candidate Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, terminal tractors, automobiles, top loaders, etc.)
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, diesel engine repairs, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematic diagrams
  • Tools required to perform equipment maintenance and repair
  • Clean MVR and dependable mode of transportation to and from work
  • Excellent communication in English, Spanish a plus
  • The ability and willingness to work in a team environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a TWIC (Transportation Worker identification Credential)
  • Must be willing to travel, as needed.


Responsabilidades:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Abide by all safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist equipment operators completing inspections forms.
  • Refueling heavy duty equipment with various fluids.
  • Clearing and maintaining equipment
  • Clean shop and place debris in proper location.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assist mechanic technicians in completing work projects.
  • Performs other maintenance related work as required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Work is 100% outdoors
  • Candidate will be exposed to weather conditions like heat, rain & cold on daily basis. And in some occasions will work in closed spaces (warehouse, vessel hatch, etc.)
  • Capable of walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders up to 100ft high and have fast physical reactions (jump, move)
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends, as needed
