The Lutheran Center (national office) is located in Chicago, Illinois. About the Mission Investment Fund The Mission Investment Fund (MIF), a financial ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, supports the establishment and growth of ELCA congregations, synods, and affiliated ministries by providing loans for capital projects for congregations and ministries. To fund these loans, MIF offers a variety of investments to ELCA members, congregations, and ministries.

The ELCA Federal Credit Union (FCU), a financial ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, offers financial products and services to ELCA members, pastors, congregations, synods, affiliated ministries, and their employees. About the position The Director of Marketing leads the development and execution of multi-channel marketing strategies and customer communications designed to grow engagement with the Mission Investment Fund (MIF) and the ELCA Federal Credit Union (ELCA FCU). The Director is responsible for building campaigns across email, print, digital media, paid media, social media and partner channels with the goal of growing investment and loan activity among individuals, congregations and other non-profit organizations. With a team of two direct reports, the Director manages communications and content that support the customer journey and ensure consistent brand messaging and tone. The Director also supports the organization’s sales and business development efforts, as well as special events, sponsorships and partnerships, with tailored marketing materials and that both generate leads and nurture relationships with prospective customers.

This is a full-time, regular, exempt, Chicago-based hybrid position. This position has responsibilities that will require being in the office on a weekly basis.

Candidates for this position must reside within the fifty United States or the District of Columbia and be authorized to work lawfully in the United States. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Responsibilities Develops and executes marketing strategies and plans for customer acquisition and cross-selling, emphasizing email and direct mail campaigns. Manages the marketing calendar, leads multi-channel campaigns, collaborates with internal and external teams, and partners with the CRM Marketing Manager to measure and optimize campaign performance. Manages promotional opportunities via partner channels (e.g. newsletters, publications, social media platforms) and manages the schedule for providing content, creative assets and other resources to promote MIF and the ELCA FCU to relevant target audiences. Directs and leads a team of two, providing strategic guidance and fostering professional development. Manages relationships and oversees the work of marketing vendors, including photographers, videographers, graphic designers, copywriters, web developers, and other agency and freelance contacts. Assists in the development and maintenance of websites, mobile apps and other owned channels, ensuring that content and design is timely, relevant, and used strategically to promote products and services while helping customers connect to the mission, vision and values of both organizations. In collaboration with outside resources, directs the development of short videos (testimonials, advertisements, etc.) and other marketing collateral (brochures, reports, etc.) to present the MIF and ELCA FCU to prospective customers. Works with internal stakeholders to identify stories and manages relationships with customers and other external stakeholders throughout the production process. Supports the Vice President of Marketing in the development of other high-impact, high-visibility marketing initiatives, including but not limited to branding, market research, public relations, communications, advertising, and other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Customer Communications Manager Marketing Projects Assistant Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field; or Bachelor’s degree plus equivalent work experience and training. 8+ years of hands-on integrated marketing campaign experience, including 5+ years of marketing leadership experience with responsibilities for developing strategies and plans. Experience with B2B and B2C communications a plus. Strong financial acumen, sound judgment and knowledge of financial products and services. Experience in the financial services industry is highly desirable. Experience and demonstrated success in leading projects, cross-functional teams and supervising staff, vendors, and freelancers. Proficiency in marketing technology for email marketing, analytics, web content management, project management and basic design/layout. Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required. Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Intelligence, Google Analytics, Squarespace, Qualtrics and Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred. Excellent copywriting, editing, and communication skills; ability to adapt tone and messaging to speak effectively to various target audiences on behalf of brands and executives. Experience managing and monitoring brands on social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).
