Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for working with a project team for the successful design and completion of control systems for the customer. They will work with the engineering team to outline the project and complete all the necessary work therein which may involve electrical controls knowledge, process engineering skills, and the application of advanced computer/PLC/HMI programming.
  • Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles
  • Interpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately
  • Resolve problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases
  • Responsible for project success whether as project leader or as part of the project team
  • Provide system installation support and on-site start-up and debugging for both hardware and software
  • Effectively communicate, in detail, the project with managers, construction personnel and customers in accordance with CommTech Global company policy
  • Develop, modify and maintain Computer Aided drawings
  • PLC and HMI programming utilizing RSLogix 5,500, 5000, RSView32 and/or FTView ME/SE, networking: RIO, DH+, D-Net, and ethernet communication
  • Ensure control systems comply with company and site standards, including safety reviews and management of change
  • Write PLC/HMI programs for equipment installations and modifications
  • Evaluates and recommends improvement of equipment or procedures as necessary
  • Responsible for all aspects of personal and team safety
  • Support other locations and departments as needed

Requirements
  • Full-Time hourly position requiring 40+ hrs. a week
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 2 - 4 yrs. job experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs
  • Familiarity with basic electrical components used in controls systems, e.g. solenoids, beacons, switches, etc.
  • Proficient in applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Working Knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam CAD preferred
  • Ability to provide visionary strategic leadership; experience guiding the implementation of a strategic plan, measuring progress and adapting as necessary
  • Design and Troubleshoot Controls
  • Ability to work alone or within a team
  • PLC Programming, HMI, SCADA (Allen-Bradley, Delta V, Ignition)
  • Must have a strong commitment to personal and team safety
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the team, customers, and external contacts, via telephone, in written form, email, and in person
  • Ability to learn company specific applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Familiarity in the renewable and fossil fuel energy sectors is preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to travel as required to support projects. May include day trips throughout the region/assigned territory and overnight stays
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to sustain a level of physical activity, including walking, climbing, bending, and sitting
  • Good finger dexterity to be able to work and handle small objects
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow company procedures and manufacturers guidelines
  • Requires the ability to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance on the job
  • Perform work in remote field settings and exposure to extreme weather conditions including hot, cold, muddy, and wet environments
  • Valid active driver's license and the ability to operate a vehicle
  • Ability to pass all random DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing
