Summary TTB Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. Responsibilities The employee provides services to TTB customers and business partners in a geographic area covered by Western II office, which includes Los Angeles, CA. For the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: - Researching laws, regulations, guidelines; OR - Applying accounting or auditing standards in a work setting. OR Education: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education in a related field; or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); or grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society (or will attain within 9 months of application). Education Education Requirements: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study from an accredited college or university leading to an accounting or auditing degree, or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to six hours of credit in business law; OR B.) A combination of education and experience wherein you've attained at least four years of experience in accounting or auditing, or an equivalent combination of accounting or auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following: 1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality (of which six hours may be substituted by business law); 2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), obtained through written examination; or 3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing (e.g., 15 semester hours or 22.5 quarter hours), but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that: (a) you have successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field (e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining); (b) you believe a panel of at least two higher-level professional accountants or auditors can determine you have demonstrated good knowledge of accounting and related underlying fields equal to the breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement normally associated with successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, your education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
