Position Summary: Welch's is seeking a Sr Process Engineer on our Research & Development (R&D) team to help us grow our business. The Senior Process Engineer will lead processing scale up and commercialization of new products from lab to full scale production. This individual will also own development from design, to scale up and implementation. Where You'll Work: This role will be based out of our Concord, MA headquarters with 30% travel amongst the internal manufacturing and contract-manufacturing networks. What You'll Do: Lead commercial startups of new or improved processes in Welch's manufacturing network. Collaborate with Product Development and other cross-functional teams (Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Quality and Marketing) to drive commercialization of new products and productivity projects. Plan, coordinate and execute plant trials. Support start-up production and own knowledge transfer to site QA and Manufacturing. Perform technical assessment & evaluate process capability of internal and external manufacturing network. Work with the manufacturing site to deliver project requirements. Document process specifications that ensure product safety, quality and performance. Build expertise and provide technical leadership to the organization in beverages and spreads manufacturing. Conduct technical and financial feasibility assessments of relevant technologies in their applicability to Welch's operations, including the development of the corresponding business case. Who You Are: Technically skilled with ability to be successful in R&D/Product Development lab, pilot plant, and manufacturing scale environments. Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence effectively across R&D and cross-functional partners. Detail oriented and fast learner. Hands on, resourceful and decisive. Seeks practical approaches with a bias for action to quickly build and demonstrate new ideas and concepts. Applies a growth mindset through continuous experimentation and learning. Embraces agility and thrives in a fast paced environment. Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines. Strong desire for results and ability to bring projects to completion. Technically deep and curious; enjoys challenges and problem solving. What You'll Need: BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Food Engineering, Food Science, or related fields is required. 5+ years of experience required in Process Engineering, Research & Development, Product Development, and New Product Commercialization. Experience in Food, Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods, and/or Pharmaceutical industries is highly preferred. Successful track record of accomplishment in a cross-functional environment. Experience in technical leadership of commercialization, scale up and launch. Knowledge and practice of safety procedures, GMPs, food regulations, and the implications for process development. Understanding of project management principles. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Availability to travel up to an average of 30% based on project requirements.
