Job Title: Lead Data Analyst Directorate: Strategy, Analysis and Planning Team: Data, Analysis and Insight About HMCTS HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of Criminal, Civil and Family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. Role Type: Analytical, Planning, Strategy Post Type: Permanent Working Pattern: Full Time, Part Time/Job Share, Flexible Working Key Responsibilities Lead on developing and improving a range of dashboards, reports and/or analytical models, looking for innovative and automated solutions which meet our business requirements. Use various analytical and data science techniques to interpret complex data from MoJ, HMCTS and external sources and construct reports or models that adapt to changing requirements. Lead on the analysis of business processes through data to understand performance issues and provide insightful recommendations for solutions. Proactively engage with stakeholders, business partners, and operational teams to elicit requirements and identify opportunities for analysis and modelling. Prepare, explore and visualize data in reports and dashboards. Conduct data interrogation and analysis. Apply analytical and statistical methodologies for generating insight and modelling. Present results using appropriate visualizations. Understand and apply analytical quality assurance. Work independently and manage own time and priorities. Confidently engage with senior stakeholders and challenge established processes. Contribute to implementing creative and innovative approaches to service delivery. Adapt to shifting HMCTS priorities and changing business needs. Desirable Skills and Experience Experience with Power BI, Excel, SQL, R, and Python is desirable; training will be provided. Knowledge of the justice system and HMCTS operations is advantageous. Experience in building reproducible analytical pipelines, automation, and version control (using GitHub). Mandatory Eligibility Requirements Membership in an Analytical Profession (e.g., GORS, GSS, GES, DDAT). Working Arrangements The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.
