The person who will assume the position of custodian is accepting a very important role in the functioning of our school. The custodian will not only be working with maintenance, cleaning, and care, but he/she will be working with people, especially children.High school diploma or equivalentOne (1) or two (2) years of custodial experience. Custodial and building maintenance in a school setting preferredMust possess a valid Arkansas driver's licenseAbility to lift 50 pounds or moreDemonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibitiesLocks and unlocks assigned buildings: secures building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lightsKeeps outer premises, including sidewalks, parking lots, and playgrounds clean at all timesCleans and sanitizes restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedureReports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistanceAssists with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etcStrips, cleans, buffs and applies floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuums and shampoos carpetsTurns in supply list each week so supplies may be deliveredIdentifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removalPerforms various mainenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in restrooms, labs and classroomsChecks that toilets, urinals, faucets and drain are workingCleans and disinfects drinking fountainsSweeps office floors and vacuum any carpetsReports signs of vandalism or abuse of facilities to the principalStrips, seals, and waxes all tiled floors during summer monthsThoroughly cleans walls, baseboards, and bookshelvesPerforms other duties assigned by SupervisorThe physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and use fingers, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. or more.
