As a reliable and adaptable power generation facility, the Fremont Energy Center plays a crucial role in meeting the region's energy demands and ensures a stable electricity supply.Opportunity SummaryThe Plant Manager's responsibilities encompass operations, maintenance, engineering, and facility management, all guided by the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Agreement and other project agreements. Serving as the primary interface with the Owner, they also act as a community liaison and engage with regulatory agency representatives as directed by the Owner.Additionally, leadership is provided to all Plant personnel, including tasks such as employee selection, technical training, and maintaining employee qualifications. The Plant Manager ensures the facility's compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements, while also working to enhance the Plant and Owner's image within the community and the industry.Your scope of responsibility as Plant Manager includes the following primary functions:Administer the plant's safety, operations, maintenance, administrative, training, chemistry, and environmental compliance programs to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation. Employ sound business principles, best-in-class techniques, and prudent utility practices to enhance plant profitability.Manage and oversee planned and unplanned plant outages, optimizing outage schedules to increase production efficiency, minimize costs, and enhance profitability.Administer project agreements, including the O&M agreement, energy supply agreements, service agreements, and interconnection agreements, ensuring facility compliance.Develop and implement staffing, training, and qualification plans for all O&M phases, aligning personnel goals with facility objectives and Owner's goals.Provide a safe working environment and promote a culture of safety awareness among all plant personnel, actively ensuring the safety of others.Ensure compliance with applicable environmental permits, regulations, and agreements with neighboring landowners, and prepare and submit required environmental and regulatory reports.Control and manage plant expenditures using budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting methods, establishing annual budgets in accordance with the O&M Agreement.Act as a liaison to the community and regulatory agencies, enhancing the plant's image as a good neighbor and encouraging staff involvement in community activities.Provide hands-on support for Operations and Maintenance personnel as required, assisting in equipment problem evaluation and employing outside resources as necessary.Provide leadership to all plant personnel, conducting periodic reviews of policies and procedures to ensure alignment with plant goals and industry standards.Complete special projects as required by senior management.Maintain dependable, reliable attendance.NAES SafeSafety is a core value of NAES and as a condition of employment, all employees are expected to be mentally alert and work safely at all times. Effectiveness in carrying out this responsibility is part of the evaluation of each Supervisor's performance. This includes, but is not limited to, the following functions:Conduct/Support Regular Safety Meetings (at least monthly).Address Safety at all Group Meetings.Conduct Inspections and Observations: establish within the department a regular inspection of the work area and a safety observation process of work being performed.Establish and lead these activities following any rules, requirements or guidance established in your business unit, group, or division.Involve all NAES teammates in the activities.Analyze result, write work orders, train, and educate to eliminate hazards, at-risk behavior and meet company regulatory requirements.Conduct Regular Observation Tours: Conduct no less than two safety observation tours of high-risk activities e.g., confined space to verify that employees are performing the work in accordance with safe practices, company procedures and OSHA regulations.Regular and Frequent Contacts: conduct one-on-one contact sessions with workers to discuss safety issues, communicate expectations and coach safe behaviors, e.g., whether the employee is wearing all required personal protective equipment.Respond to Incidents: respond to all safety-related incidents including, but not limited to injuries, incidents and near misses; write a report that explains what happened, identify the cause, and recommend corrective action following any established business unit or division practice. Follow up as necessary to ensure that corrective action is taken.Working RelationshipsThe Plant Manager reports to the Operations Director and supervises the managers, technicians, and Plant Administrator. The Plant Manager is the single point of contact between NAES and the Owner on all matters pertaining to the operation, maintenance, and commercial management of the plant.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsPhysical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.Fitness for DutyAll employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. Work ScheduleThis position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule, during regular dayshift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. Some travel may be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings.CompensationInitial starting compensation will range from $160,000 to $190,000, and will include an annual performance bonus.Job QualificationsWe are seeking a candidate who has extensive technical power plant and leadership experience with a work history that demonstrates a pattern of accomplishments and advancement.Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent is highly desired.Prior experience as a Plant Manager at a natural gas fired power generation plant is strongly preferred.Extensive experience in the business principles and practices of power generating facilities, with a focus on independent power producers.Demonstrated technical proficiency in plant operations and maintenance, with the ability to provide hands-on support and problem-solving assistance to operations and maintenance personnel.Proven ability in supervising technical, supervisory, and hourly personnel.Demonstrated expertise in environmental management, budget development and control, organizational development, and contract administration.Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting methods for controlling plant expenditures.Thorough understanding of safety regulations and experience in promoting a culture of safety awareness among plant personnel.Exceptional leadership, motivational, and communication (oral and written) skills are essential, with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.Results-driven problem solver, motivator, and team builder with a track record of successfully leading change initiatives to enhance technical, human resources, business, and financial performance.Excellent community relations skills with the ability to act as a liaison to regulatory agencies and engage with the local community.Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license at all times.About NAESNAES Corporation is the leading provider of operations, maintenance, and engineering services for energy facilities.
