Job Summary The Director of US Admissions plays a pivotal role in maximizing the enrollment of new US students and ensuring the quality of the incoming student body. This role encompasses overseeing counselors, managing the admissions process, coordinating with administrative departments, data analysis, strategic planning, and serving as the Slate product owner. This position requires a dynamic leader with strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, capable of managing complex processes and driving improvements in admissions and Slate system management. Job Responsibilities 1. Counselor Management : Train new US counselors and serve as their immediate supervisor, providing guidance, feedback, mentorship, and support. Ensure counselors are well-versed in academic programs, student services, financial aid, and enrollment policies. Participate in coordinating training with academic departments. Hold regular meetings with US counselors to review progress, discuss applicant status, track progress toward individual and departmental goals, and address concerns. Develop goals and metrics for individual counselors and the US team, tailored to their individual strengths and interest and aligned with the university’s goals. Answer questions, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to procedures. Engage and inspire applicants through multiple channels of communication. 2. Admissions Processing : Review applicant files for acceptance, making final decisions, and coordinating with review committees. Address issues with counselors as needed and convene Admissions Review Board meetings for collective discussion. 3. Coordination with Administrative Departments : Process acceptances and coordinate with Financial Aid, ensuring timely preparation of award letters and updating relevant fields in the database. Maintain and update shared data systems, including spreadsheets and tracking documents for various academic programs. Serve as the primary contact for academic and administrative departments regarding US prospective students, providing reports and projections as needed. Facilitate communication with the Enrollment Center and other departments regarding applicant and enrollment data. Play a central role in orchestrating new student entries and coordinating related organizational and reporting tasks. Collaborate with the marketing department and others to develop and deliver enrollment forecasts and strategic initiatives. 4. Slate Product Ownership : Serve as the Slate product owner, driving the development and enhancement of our Slate instance and its features. Define and communicate a clear product vision, ensuring alignment with business goals. Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to deliver high-quality, user-centric features. Supervise the Slate administrator, who oversees day-to-day Slate operations. Work with the Slate administrator to configure additional Slate features, including reporting features. Ensure training for all staff utilizing the Slate platform. Serve as the final arbiter for all high-level Slate decisions. Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred. 4 years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related field, with a strong track record of increasing student enrollment and managing admissions processes. Experience with Slate CRM or similar admissions management software. Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Desired Qualities: Strong ability to inspire, mentor, and develop staff members. Proven experience in setting goals, managing performance, and providing constructive feedback. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks and processes simultaneously. Strong analytical skills with experience in using data to drive decisions and develop strategies for improvement. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with various stakeholders, including students, parents, and staff.
