Controller (Construction company)

Now recruiting on behalf of a well established, growing, mid-sized construction company on the north side of Atlanta. The company offers a great culture, strong compensation/benefits plan (including 401k match) and the opportunity to really impact process development, profitability analysis, and work closely with the Owners.

This construction Controller position will be responsible for implementing and carrying out the following duties:
  • Close the books monthly
  • Track all business spending
  • Job cost tracking for materials, owned equipment, fuel, vehicles, etc.
  • Project budgeting
  • Assign credit card transactions to jobs
  • Over and under-billings and work in progress reports
  • Track job cost in real time and information can be used in future bids/proposals
  • Overall goal is tightening spending and understand what services/project types are more profitable
  • Ensure cross purchases for each company is properly accounted for
  • Track actual costs, analyze profitability and drive decision making on project bids

The right candidate for this Controller role will have the following:
  • Bachelor's in Accounting
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • CPA or CMA helpful; Certification in construction accounting is helpful
  • Experience working with accounting software such as Netsuite, Sage 50, or related
  • Experience working in the construction industry required
  • Strong experience with job cost tracking, cost analysis, bid proposal support, month end close management, and driving cost savings
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and drive process improvements, as well as ability to work in very hands on position
  • Track record of job stability and career progression
