Overview We are seeking a full-time Senior Cost Accountant in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing advanced support services in the accounting, verifying, and documenting of company cost/inventory transactions as well as various other capacities as needed to gain a better understanding of the entire Finance department. Essential Functions Exhibit proficiency in technical area assigned Perform general ledger account analysis/reconciliation related to inventory/cost accounts Monitor cost/inventory transactions to ensure physical inventory and costing accuracy Perform month-end journal entries and assist with the closing process Maintain cost files and perform regular maintenance of standard, frozen, and transfer pricing costs, including consistent communication with buyers in the organization Understand intercompany transaction flows by inventory location in various jurisdictions Gather and analyze cost data to investigate discrepancies in inventory such as purchase price variances Process various types of reports, calculations, and postings relating to inventory balances, labor rates, and overhead rate calculations Calculate inter-company transfer pricing and answer related questions Understand BOM (bill of material) and routing cost roll-up functions Provide world-wide business support to operations and financial management teams Effectively communicate cost update maintenance timing/needs throughout organization Maintain efficient pricing update practices supporting internal order pricing needs Perform various tests of and strive for improvements in internal controls Implement change to improve efficiency of processes and procedures Assist in more complex and specialized accounting support functions Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field AND 4 years of accounting or finance experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Must demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting theory and methods, particularly as it relates to inventory, standard costing, and intercompany pricing Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated analytical ability Experience handling special projects, including strong analytical analysis Must be positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (specifically Microsoft Excel) Desired Qualifications CPA and/or CMA Experience with Oracle ERP applications Experience in public accounting Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
