Job Summary:

Maintains responsibility for assisting Director in managing claim activities, submitting all new and renewal insurance-related applications/information to corporate for approval, submitting copies of all patient-related final documents and documentation to attorney for their records.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Legal secretary experience: Preferred
Essential Functions:
  • Accurately prepares reports within established deadlines. Gathers together all essential data and trends data as needed. Prepares report(s) in accordance with established procedures/desired format and within established deadlines. Ensures all material is presented in a professional manner. Assists with review of final reports with Risk Management as appropriate and identifies area of risk and potential liability. Files departmental copy in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists Risk Manager in data gathering for AHS/W Incentive Criteria. Assists in coordinating annual Loss Control Incentive Program within Medical Center. Receives packets from AHS-West and reviews all components of packet with Risk Management and notes areas of focus, specific assignments, etc. Initiates appropriate follow-up and assists in following up on corrective action to ensure optimal compliance. Keeps Risk Management abreast of response from departments.
  • Coordinates travel arrangements for unit staff. Provides clerical and administrative support, processes data, generates routine reports. Manages and updates the department's litigation calendar. Maintains Risk Management/Corporate databases, and assisting the Director by overseeing Infection Control's daily functions.
  • Coordinates insurance-related departmental activities. Obtains and distributes certificates of insurance as needed for other departments, residents, employees, special projects, etc.. Coordinates hospital-owned vehicles insurance policy program. Coordinates and updates files of insured drivers. Completes property insurance and all other insurable incidents and claims. Identifies quality improvement activities for insurance related activities.
  • Oversees management of Risk Management RESPOND system database. Reviews material and ensures completeness of information from Directors/Managers. Reviews contents and accurately inputs data into Risk Management RESPOND system. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data entries. Alerts Risk Management to potential compensatory events and discusses need for subsequent follow-up.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
