Overview of Responsibilities: Conducts outbound phone calls with members to analyze the member's financial situation and recommend appropriate additional products to meet the member's financial needs. The Consumer Lending Consultant will produce a positive lending consultation with the credit union member.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes introduction calls to new indirect member relationships to ensure understanding of how to make payment and assist with quick pay, online banking or ACH payment.
  • Analyzes member's financial and credit information from pre-sorted lists asks high impact questions to understand member's financial goals and identify member's needs. Offers benefits statements, solutions and cross sells products and services to meet member needs by focusing on the benefits and value to the member.
  • Accurately reviews members credit report, calculates members current rate with loans at other financial institutions and project members' potential interest rate savings with MSGCU. Accurately pre-qualifies members for loan products based on their overall financial history and credit data.
  • Makes outbound phone calls to members to take loan applications by phone and prepares loan application packages that are accurate and complete.
  • Remains persistent with following up with members where refinancing or consolidation of debt provides the member with significant savings and aligns to members goals. Follow up consists of phone, email or text and is ultimately determined based on the member preference.
  • Prepares loan documents and facilitates loan closings through an electronic channel.
  • Partners with internal teams for processing of member loans through closing.
  • Communicates approvals, counter offers, and declines to members based on Loan Underwriter's credit decision.
  • Manages loan pipeline to meet/Exceed monthly minimum individual production goals.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and strong PC proficiency.

Essential Preparation and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred; and
  • 2 years of consumer lending experience; and
  • Proven sales outcomes as demonstrated by exceeding monthly goals, 1 year of sales by phone preferred.
  • Experience using Symitar and reading, analyzing, and explaining consumer credit reports desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors.
  • Occasionally required to travel throughout MSGCU's service area as business needs require.
  • Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
  • This work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing and may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base pay pay begins at $18.85 / hour
  • Team members in this role are eligible to earn incentives as part of our variable compensation plan
  • Medical, dental and vision on your first day You can choose the most generous Health Savings Account (HSA)-eligible medical plan with no monthly premium for you (and your family)
  • If you are at least 21 years old, you will receive a 3% contribution from MSGCU, and a 100% match for the next 7% you contribute to your 401(k)
  • You will enjoy 12 paid holidays and up to 120 hours of PTO your first year of service (pro-rated based on start date)
