The Associate Director, Information Governance serves as a senior member of the Global Information Governance team, within Boehringer Ingelheim's (the Company's) Legal Function based in Ridgefield, CT. The incumbent will provide direction, strategy, planning and coordination for the proper management, retention, and protection of the Companys information assets. To ensure broad adoption of Information Governance requirements, the incumbent will develop and implement global and local procedures, training and awareness, risk mitigation efforts and compliance monitoring programs with the goal of protecting and managing the Companys records and information.

This role offers a flexible work schedule with 2-3 days per week on site and can be located in Ridgefield, CT or Duluth, GA

**Duties & Responsibilities**

+ Drive Global Information Governance program objectives by developing information governance strategy and operational requirements to protect the company against the risks associated with the mismanagement of Company Records and Information.

+ Subject matter expert for Information Governance related procedural requirements and best practices, helping the business to achieve their objectives while remaining in compliance with the Global Records and Information Management procedure.

+ Training and Communications lead for the Information Governance team, responsible for raising overall awareness of the Information Governance program by developing programs supporting global information governance requirements.

+ Oversee the adoption of information governance requirements through engagement with and periodic assessment of the Global Information Governance liaison community.

+ Provide operational direction and advice to Boehringer employees in the U.S. and globally to ensure the proper management and protection of the companys records and information.

+ Serves as principal liaison with the IT organization as it relates to global information protection requirements as it related to the identification, labeling and protection of company confidential information.

**Requirements**

+ Bachelor degree from an accredited institution mandatory

+ Advanced degree in information management, security and/or technology related topics preferred

+ Information governance related industry certifications (CRM, IGP, CIPP, CSSP, etc.) preferred

+ Minimum 7 years information governance experience with a focus on building IG strategy, communications/training, policies and procedures and compliance monitoring in a large multi-national organization preferred.

+ Experience in working with global functions in a multi-national organization preferred

+ Advanced skills in information technology

+ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office365 products. Experience in implementing IG-related functionality in large IT systems is desirable.

+ Leadership capabilities - Must set and provide direction. Build engagement through collaboration and knowledge sharing. Coach and inspire people in their development and provide support in coping with their weaknesses and realize their strengths. Treats others with respect and understanding.

+ Must be self-motivated and have a proven ability to motivate others to achieve results that positively impact the assigned business area(s).
