Reports To: Principal Supervises: Custodial staff of the school Job Goal: To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times. Performance Responsibilities: * Shall perform to the best of their ability, all duties assigned to them. * Conducts interviews with custodial applicants for recommending the hiring of individuals. * Plans and oversees all maintenance and repair work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency. * Maintains an inventory and recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools and equipment. * Evaluates the performance of assigned personnel and provides in-service training experience as required. * Maintains communication with custodial staff on the other two shifts. * Strives constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees. * Maintains schedules of work for each individual building area, and sees to it that proper supplies are on hand in that building. * Calls meetings of the custodial staff when it is deemed necessary for purposes of training or morale. * Establishes duties, schedules, supervises and participates in the maintenance and general cleaning programs of the school building. * Works with the maintenance supervisor in establishing guidelines for the division of responsibility for minor in-school repairs and emergency repairs. * Inspects each building quarterly and more often if necessary and confers with principal regarding custodial work. * Generally supervises and maintains the school grounds. * Assists in snow removal. * Assumes responsibility for the general security of the building. * Performs emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary. * Assigns duties to employees and inspects completed work. Terms of Employment: Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
