JOB SUMMARY
This position provides technical support for all technology hardware, software and district network equipment for use with classroom instruction. The goal of this position is to provide technical support to our teachers, administrators, and staff to provide a more seamless integration of technology as a tool in the classroom. The position requires a strong knowledge of Chromebooks, Google Suites for Education, Active Directory and firewall and web-filtering software. Additionally, this position takes an active lead in one or more of the district's integrated technological components; phone system, security cameras, imaging, door security, audio/visual, audio enhancement, and building paging system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
Computer Maintenance and Repair
  • Diagnose classroom technology problems to determine cause of malfunction
  • Manage and diagnosis of Chromebook errors, login difficulty
  • Repair and replace hardware (computers, monitors, printers) and modular components (memory, disk drives, CD drives, hard drives, and motherboards)
  • Troubleshoot PC connections to LAN/WAN
  • Respond to work orders indicating needed hardware/software repair and replacement
  • Accurately report status of work orders and log in work order database
  • Assist with end-user training for the work-order system
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled (clean & vacuum equipment, etc.)
  • Assist in development of preventative maintenance schedule for district technology equipment
  • Maintain accurate records, status and timeline of technology preventative maintenance
  • Verify operational effectiveness of equipment and software through interaction with teachers, principals and administrators on a recurring basis
  • Report vandalized equipment immediately
Computer Set-Up And Inventory (hardware and software)

Hardware
  • Unpack, connect and test new computers, printers, drives and other peripheral devices
  • Report invoice discrepancies to Technical Support Supervisor
  • Install and format standardized images of computer hard drives on networked PC's
  • Install and test software
  • Tag and record all equipment with MCUSD inventory tag numbers, serial numbers and locations in Inventory Database and visual maps
  • Maintain MS Visio drawings by building of all technology equipment including adds, moves and changes to equipment
  • Assist in the maintenance of accurate equipment identification
  • Coordinate and perform annual technology inventory
Software
  • Maintain up-to-date instructional software inventory including name, serial numbers/access codes, licenses and installation in coordination with building representatives and Computer Instructional Aides
  • Periodically check equipment software installation to verify accuracy of inventory
Network Maintenance & User Accounts
  • Assist in the verification of email operation and internet and network connectivity
  • Assist with student and teacher account maintenance
  • Maintain complete set of licensed software in each building in the server room
  • Modify user accounts as required based on AUP
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of user accounts
  • Remain current on network issues and trends
Technology Training
  • Provide district training as needed on technology use and issues including: replacement of printer ribbons, toner and ink cartridges, end-user software and upgrades that affect an entire building, the network or the school district (i.e., login procedures, email usage, passwords changes or software upgrades)
  • Assist in development of training manuals on all training provided by technical staff
  • Assist in the maintenance of the district website, especially the technology sections
  • Remain current with technology advances, software and equipment, as time allows
Other - All other duties as assigned
  • Assist students in proper usage of hardware and digital resources.
  • Assist teachers and students with using digital devices and applications
  • Provide instructional support to students using the Chromebooks and Google Suites for Education
  • Organize housing and maintaining accurate records for chromebook accountability and managing repairs for the one to one chromebook program in assigned building
  • Troubleshoot and maintain school technology (Chrome devices, android tablets, iOS devices, audio and video systems, document cameras, and interactive boards)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available digital resources and device usage in building; upgrade technology skills as needed
  • Report safety and fire hazards immediately to building administrators and supervisor
  • Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents/guardians and resolve conflicts in a professional manner
  • Attend work regularly and punctually
  • Occasionally perform work outside of the standard work week when workload requires and is approved
  • Follow and maintain knowledge of all district policies and procedures
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with technology
  • Requires experience using Google Suites for Education

EVALUATION
The Director of Technology shall evaluate the Computer Technician annually. The evaluation shall be observation based with input from supervisors. The evaluator shall meet with the employee to discuss goals, a self-evaluation and the evaluation. All ratings that reflect a need for improvement shall be accompanied by written suggestions. Any unsatisfactory rating will be handled in accordance with district policies and procedures.
