Some of the Responsibilities of a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at C-Power: Conceptual and detailed CAD design FEA analysis of steel weldments and FRP construction Mooring design for C-Power wave energy products Design review on deployment support vessel working with third party consultants Mechanical design for small air gap, large diameter, electric machines Focus on commercialization through improved sourcing, quality control, accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering change management Improve workflows, set design standards in accordance with best practices, and ensure quality completion of assigned work Document project requirements, system level requirements, and final design reports. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Work with vendors to establish and execute contractual work Hands-on mechanical design that meets system and DFMA requirements Guidance and review of mechanical design for all team members Ensures reliable operation of wave energy products through engineering analysis, testing, and establishment of maintenance requirements Support the implementation of a Product Data Management (PDM) system Work hands on with the team and prioritize their development and growth Protects operations by keeping proprietary information confidential Communicate engineering challenges and results to senior management Travel of domestic & international work assignments (~20%) Performs other duties as assigned Education and Experience Needed: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters preferred 5+ years of experience Experience designing mechanical systems including gearboxes, couplers, electric machines, and machined parts FEA and Fatigue analysis experience Experience using MATLAB is a plus Experience with Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering is a plus What Makes a Successful Senior Mechanical Engineer at C-Power? They are invested in the development of the other mechanical engineers and lead by example to show how to work collaboratively across disciplines. They are responsible to harden and improve designs with full commercialization in mind. They must always be searching for ways to improve productivity, reduce costs, and streamline workflows to build a scalable world class product. They are mission driven with the ability to work on multiple projects at various stages simultaneously while still delivering quality work.
