Description

Summary:

The Mount Desert Island Hospital (MDIH) Junior Accountant will be responsible for assisting the accounting team with various Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable duties including but not limited to Quickbooks invoicing, Dentrix insurance payment postings and verifying Health Center deposits and Accounts payable check runs. This position will also assist with monthly bank reconciliations and the annual audit.

Requirements

Major Responsibility Areas for this position (All are Essential Functions):

#1- Ensures that all assigned bank accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
Measurement: Ensures that reconcilaition are complete and reviewed by the end of each month

#2-Reconciles Quickbooks Miscellaneous AR to Multiview software monthly and maintains accurate AR balances.
Measurement: Ensures that reconcilaition are complete and reviewed by the end of each month

#3-Accurately posts dental insurance payments and meets month end close deadlines.
Measurement: Ensures that reconcilaition are complete and reviewed by the end of each month

#4-Asssist accounting team with review of various daily activities and reconciliations.

Measurement:

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

Associate's Degree in Accounting preferred.

Experience Required:

Experience in Healthcare Industry preferred.

Special Requirements:

Excel knowledge required. Experience with QuickBooks and Multiview a plus.

Ability to multitask.

Cognitive Requirements:

Ability to research and resolve issues independently.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Requires sitting for longer periods of time.

Environment:

Work will be performed indoors.
