Reporting to the VP Operations, the Operations Director is ultimately responsible for the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance of this 120 employee foam in place manufacturing facility. Leading a salaried staff of 10 people, with department manager direct reports: quality, engineering, MP&L, HR, and plant / production. Manage policy deployment in the areas of safety, quality, complete and on-time delivery, cost reduction, lean manufacturing techniques, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures. Support growth initiatives and successful product launch activities. Key Challenges: Process and culture change – shift from emphasis on “maximize production minutes usage” to a disciplined continuous improvement focus on productivity, efficiency, and profitability – while maintaining the highest standards for employee safety, legal compliance, and ethical conduct. Control direct and indirect labor to meet financial objectives. Meet schedule attainment objectives, eliminating the need for costly expedited shipments. Minimize scrap using metrics, root cause analysis, and a sense of urgency. Promote the effectiveness, development, unity, and esprit de corps of the management team. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Support and maintain a safe working conditions for the production workforce. Drive positive financial results using established objectives, working in partnership with corporate, and maintaining open communication channels and cross functional cooperation. Promote the development of the staff in your care through quality, results, effectiveness, continuous improvement and optimization of processes and resources. Plan and manage the economic resources needed to launch, maintain, and improve the operation to positively impact profitability. Manage allocated resources (budgets), in such a way that they are used appropriately to the achievement of the objectives, avoiding possible deviations and / or waste. Integrate and coordinate the participation of different departments supporting product launch or start of a project to ensure the balance sheet and continuity of the operation. Maintain and improve the perception of trust and credibility in the operation from corporate (e.g., deliver reliable, predictable results without unpleasant surprises). Promote complete customer satisfaction through comprehensive quality assurance and process optimization strategies. Promote a positive image of the Company both internally and externally (customers, corporate, society). Maintain an appropriate Organizational Climate for the purpose of providing Safety, Satisfaction, Pride and Welfare at Work. Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong Lean background, continuous improvement / plant turnaround experience. Automotive industry supplier experience strongly preferred. High volume / low to mid variation production better than low run custom products. Ideally experienced with same processes: interior cut & sew, some wrapping of door panels, some seat trim sewing, very little finished product – true 5-10 years manufacturing management experience including P&L responsibility. Ideally has professional exposure to / rotations in different functions – especially materials management / MP&L, quality, engineering – in addition to production. US company experience (e.g., Fortune 500 / blue chip) – well versed in how cross-border business. Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering, or related field.
