JOB SUMMARY

Covalent Solutions (Covalent) is seeking a mission driven, highly motivated and collaborative Senior Software Test Engineer who is **** truly excited about building great products to support one of our clients at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As a Senior Software Test Engineer , you will apply your skills to test pre-existing and new software for bug defects and security vulnerabilities.

This opportunity is full-time with Covalent and is on-site in Rockville, Maryland.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the project manager to define success metrics and criteria.
  • Ensuring the program/project meets success parameters and business objectives stated in the project plan and charter.
  • Providing transparency and communication on project status and risks to project stakeholders.
  • Design, create, and execute automated tests to ensure the quality and functionality of software applications.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software products, reduces the risk of defects, and contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the software development process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Desired certifications.
    • Microsoft Certified:
      • DevOps Engineer
      • Azure Administrator Associate
      • Azure Developer Associate


_ Work Experience_

  • 4+ Experience with Agile methodology.
  • 4+ years of the following
    • _ Test Planning and Strategy_
    • Requirement Analysis: Understanding and analyzing system requirements and specifications to develop appropriate test plans and strategies.
    • Test Case Development: Creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases and test scripts based on requirements.
    • _ Test Automation_
    • Automation Framework Design: Designing and implementing test automation frameworks that are scalable, maintainable, and reusable.
    • Script Development : Writing automated test scripts using programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or using tools like Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or Cypress.
    • Integration: Integrating automated tests with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Travis CI, or GitLab CI.
    • _ Test Execution_
    • Running Tests: Executing automated tests to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of the software.
    • Regression Testing: Performing automated regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not adversely affect existing functionalities.
    • _ Defect Management_
    • Bug Reporting: Identifying, documenting, and reporting bugs or issues found during testing using bug tracking systems like JIRA, Bugzilla, or Redmine.
    • Verification: Verifying and validating bug fixes and tracking the lifecycle of defects from discovery to resolution.
    • _ Performance Testing_
    • Load and Stress Testing: Designing and executing automated performance tests to assess system behavior under load, and identify performance bottlenecks.
    • Performance Analysis: Analyzing test results and providing insights and recommendations for performance improvements.

    • Team Collaboration: Working closely with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to understand features and technical implementations.
    • Documentation: Documenting test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test results clearly and comprehensively.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Communicating test progress, results, and quality metrics to stakeholders.

    • Tool Evaluation: Continuously evaluating and adopting new testing tools and technologies to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.

  • 1+ years of Microsoft Azure Kubernetes
