The EHS Manager’s primary objective is to protect and enhance workplace safety and environmental protection through risk prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety is ingrained as a core value. This position champions safety and sets strategies for overall success in alignment with corporate policies, initiatives, goals, and objectives. This position may be filled at a lower level, salary commensurate with skills, knowledge, and experience.

Primary Responsibilities: Directs and provides safety guidance and support all CMC locations, but based primarily out of the Elgin/Sycamore/Hampshire general area. Oversees relative aspects of Environmental compliance, including air, wastewater and stormwater permit maintenance and compliance, including sampling, review of analytical results, driving compliance with permit conditions and participating in new permit applications. Leads, guides, and drives compliance to meet OSHA General Industry, NFPA, or other health and safety regulations and requirements and corporate safety initiatives. Participates in providing New Hire Safety, Contractor Safety, and monthly training. Coordinates third-party specialty training. Updates training modules to keep current and develops new training modules for continuous improvement. Maintains training records using QT9. Oversees PPE management and distribution programs, seeks continuous improvement in PPE offerings. Prepares reports and maintains site OSHA and incident logs. Conducts and facilitates incident investigations. Prepares Safety Alerts. Effectively manages WCC cases. Updates and maintains emergency response program. Conducts required drills, e.g., Code Red, Code Blue, confined space. Supports and drives positive Safety Culture actions and initiatives. Collaborates or coordinates with Maintenance to meet applicable permit and inspection requirements, i.e., CO2 fire suppression, sprinklers, fire alarms, smoke detectors, and production process gas systems. Conducts annual confined space and LOTO equipment procedure audits. Utilizes Velocity EHS/MSDS Online to maintain site chemical inventory. Conducts annual hazardous chemical inventory. Facilitates annual JSA reviews; using QT9 and similar online documentation management tools. Participates in EHS Security oversight, including response to security incidents, employee badging and occasional video surveilance using systems such as Aurora Keyscan, SwipedOn and other security and Badge ID systems. May issue POs in support of safety initiatives. Coordinates, as applicable, industrial hygiene exposure surveys. Other duties as may be assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Technology/Engineering or EHS-related field; experience may substitute in lieu of degree. 5+ years of experience in progressive safety and environmental compliance roles. Knowledgeable in basic OSHA 29 CFR 1910

regulations and compliance, especially, machine guarding, control of hazardous energy, electrical safety/Arc Flash NFPA 70E and powered industrial trucks. Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1904

et seq . Experience with core Environmental regulatory areas, such as RCRA, NPDES, CAA and EPCRA. Familiarity with managing Regulatory Agency inspections and visits. Skills and Competencies: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams); Velocity EHS/MSDS Online and abilities to master other specialized software, e.g., Aurora Key Scan, SwipedOn, TC Connect. Self-motivated, pro-active, team player/coach with “can do – will do” attitude to drive desired results and make it happen. Detailed and results-oriented. Acts with sense of urgency. Abilities to lead, foster, and develop a safety culture where safety is a core value by active interaction with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors; supports and drives zero harm, “no one gets hurt.” Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence across a diverse range from corporate/division leadership to plant floor. Abilities to interact with co-workers with tact and motivation to achieve desired results without direct authority. Flexible with abilities to prioritize, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and keep pace with projects and initiatives. Abilities to determine applicable regulatory requirements and communicate in lay terms. Strong verbal/written, analytical and problem-solving skills. Position has Matrixed Reporting Structure: Direct line report to Director, Environmental, Health and Safety & Security as direct line. Dotted line indirect report to site General Managers. Role is an Individual Contributor. Safety Specialist, Summer Safety Intern, as applicable, indirect report. This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, see and hear without assistance. The employee may occasionally be asked to lift or move items related to their EHS duties weighing up to 40 lbs. Able to travel: drive, fly as needed Travel Expected: 30-45% local travel between facilities. Occasional remote work with management approval.
