Role Overview

The Sanitation Technician plays a vital role in our operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sanitation process within the operational area, including cleaning, chemical safety, routine maintenance, and supporting team members.

Main Responsibilities

  • Adhere to EHS policies and procedures during routine, non-routine, and emergency situations.
  • Report any spills, equipment failures, environmental concerns, or practices that could pose safety hazards or significant environmental impacts to supervisors or EHS committee members.
  • Conduct environmental, health, and safety monitoring and inspections as per job responsibilities and submit required documentation.
  • Support safety protocols including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and hot work permits.
  • Understand and apply lifesaving principles relevant to the work environment.
Key Duties
  • Execute all job functions with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance with established safety policies.
  • Perform dry cleaning of production and storage areas, including sweeping and mopping.
  • Assist in minor disassembly and reassembly of equipment for cleaning purposes.
  • Conduct thorough wet cleaning of production areas and equipment.
  • Complete tasks outlined in the Master Sanitation Schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Exemplify Tate & Lyle values within the sanitation team.
  • Comply with all relevant site policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and audit work requiring permits and safety supervision.
  • Maintain high standards for cleanliness and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ensuring proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to address technical issues and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Accurately record food safety, quality, and sanitation data.
  • Assist in audit preparations.
Performance Metrics

Success in this role will be evaluated based on EHS, Quality, Production, Reliability, and Leadership objectives.

Required Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing sanitation preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Strong safety mindset while performing all tasks.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction through adherence to GMP and food safety standards.
  • Effective communication skills with all team members.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing tasks independently.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Able to work collaboratively within teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Reliable and punctual in attendance and performance.
