Position Summary

The Director of Operations, Americas will lead Stoneridge’s “relentless pursuit toward ideal state world class operations” (Safe Workplace, Defect Free, Zero Waste, on Demand, One by One). The role will have strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing manufacturing strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, efficiency, optimizing production levels and driving operational excellence.

Major Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for manufacturing operation activities across the Americas region Create and implement best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, and procedures to aid and improve business performance Ensure that manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of safety, quality, the operations budget, and the site Key Performance Indicators Drive Key Performance Indicators across all sites in the Americas Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operations Participate in the operations short-term and long-range planning and budget development Understand the future growth and development of Stoneridge’s business and align the operational capabilities within the region for the most cost-effective support of the market Establish strategy and best practices for staff to ensure achievement of overall business objectives Work with the Manufacturing team to translate site strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives including KPI’s Compare the plants’ performance to best-in-class operations and define improvement plans where necessary Identifiy opportunities for reduction in scrap and improved quality performance, both internal and delivered Ensure world-class performance in plant safety Support and promote lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement Provide leadership, coordination and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility

Qualifications

An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in an engineering discipline. A Master's Degree in engineering, operations, or business is a plus Minimum of 15 years of progressive operational leadership experience, preferably including experience within the automotive industry Demonstrated ability to transform a diverse mix of operations into world class performance levels, including the implementation of systems and processes which support consistent quality, delivery and cost Proven ability to articulate and execute on commitments in order to meet projected goals Customer-focused and results-oriented Proven interpersonal skills with a collegial, team-oriented style. An assertive individual with the capability to lead and develop people The experience, judgment, confidence, and presence needed to establish rapport and credibility with leadership team Proven ability to teach, mentor and coach while driving results Good verbal and written communication skills Strategic, yet understanding of the importance of tactical execution Outstanding analytical skills, with strong planning and problem-solving abilities Experience and/or Certification in applying Six Sigma, Black Belt, Shainin Red X and other proven Practical Problem Solving methods preferred
