Position Summary:

The Director of Alumni Relations and Advancement must be a visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven track record in business development, strategic planning, and operational execution. This individual will be instrumental in transforming the alumni division into a thriving and financially robust component of Health Career Connection (HCC), driving innovation and excellence in alumni engagement and advancement. They will serve as a key liaison between the institution and our valued alumni community and play a pivotal role in building and nurturing relationships with various stakeholders, including partner employers, to support the ongoing success of our alumni and the mission of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Alumni Engagement and Business Development: Ø Engage alumni in identifying their success and advancement goals and needs. Ø Develop programming, community building, mentorship, and networking activities to enhance alumni support and engagement. Programming should support alumni becoming transformational leaders and advocates in areas and communities they are passionate about. Ø Grow and scale an alumni relations program that fosters meaningful, long-term relationships, ensures alumni career advancement, and promotes the value proposition of active alumni involvement. Ø Proactively identify and cultivate new business opportunities through alumni networks, including partnerships, sponsorships, and service offerings. Ø Develop and execute a suite of value-added benefits and services for alumni that contribute to the division’s revenue goals and enhance the alumni experience.

2. Strategic Leadership and Initiative Launch: Ø Spearhead the development of a strategic initiative to enhance alumni activities and develop a connected and engaged alumni community, and significantly increase support for alumni success and advancement. Ø Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify alumni engagement and advancement opportunities that align with institutional priorities and revenue-generating potential. Ø Collaborate with institutional leadership to design and implement innovative business models that leverage alumni networks to grow and advance HCC’s mission and with a focus on creating a self-sustaining, monetized division within Health Career Connection (HCC). 3. Entrepreneurial Mindset and Revenue Generation: Ø Apply entrepreneurial principles and a business development mindset to build a robust framework for alumni relations that contributes to the financial health of HCC. Ø Explore and execute strategies for monetizing alumni services, events, and other initiatives, ensuring a consistent revenue stream. Ø Establish metrics and benchmarks to measure the success of revenue-generating activities and inform strategic adjustments.

4. Strategic Account Management: Ø Manage key partner/sponsor accounts with a strategic approach, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, engagement, and ongoing partnership. Key partners and sponsors include health employers in all sectors, health professions schools, professional and trade associations, foundations, and community-based organizations. Ø Develop tailored engagement plans for high-potential partner/sponsor accounts, driving opportunities for collaboration and support for HCC. Ø Lead the efforts in identifying, recruiting, and retaining alumni volunteers for mentorship, speaking engagements, and fundraising.

5. Database Management and Operational Efficiency: Ø Oversee the expansion, updating, and management of the alumni Customer Relations Management (CRM) and tracking database, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and usability for targeted marketing and engagement strategies. Ø Implement best practices in database management to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve overall productivity and efficiency. Ø Utilize advanced data analytics to inform decision-making, identify trends, and track the effectiveness of alumni relations and revenue-generating efforts. Ø Utilize the alumni CRM to ensure consistent communication with and engagement of alumni to support alumni connectivity, community, mentorship, and career advancement.

6. Program Operations Ø Lead day-to-day operations of the alumni division, ensuring consistent programming, events, communication and contact management. Ø Build and nurture the growth of alumni communities critical for engagement, learning, and career advancement. Ø Build, manage, and monitor online community initiatives designed to build affinity and increase feelings of belonging amongst diverse alumni communities. Ø Organize and oversee year-round events, programs, and initiatives for alumni, including opportunities to engage partners/sponsors. Ø Lead the project management and implementation of large-scale events in the alumni division, including the alumni conference, alumni awards, networking events, and end of year celebration.

7. Philanthropy and Donor Relations: Ø Ensure that HCC is adding significant value to alumni for their education and career success and advancement. Ø Cultivate a culture of giving from HCC alumni and partners. Ø Secure sponsorship for alumni division related events, including the alumni conference and end of year celebration. Ø Expand and diversify the institution’s donor base by cultivating relationships with alumni, identifying new prospects, and securing philanthropic support. Ø Oversee the stewardship of donors to maintain and enhance their long-term engagement and investment in HCC. Ø Develop compelling fundraising campaigns that resonate with the alumni community and align with the strategic goals of the institution.

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ø Work closely with marketing, communications, career services, and other relevant departments to ensure cohesive messaging and integrated strategies for alumni relations. Ø Engage with academic and administrative leaders to align alumni activities with the institution's strategic plan and educational initiatives.
