Under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement at the Luskin School of Public Affairs, the Director of Alumni Engagement will establish long-range goals and objectives and activities that reflect the academic priorities of the Luskin School of Public Affairs. This individual will have a high level of interaction with external constituents and will play a leading role in building new alumni engagement and overall support to the Luskin School of Public Affairs. The Director of Alumni Engagement will plan and implement a comprehensive alumni relations program that involves alumni, students, faculty and staff to advance the reputation of the School. This position will work collaboratively with Dean's office staff, including development, communications, events and student services. The Director of Alumni Engagement will engage high-level volunteers, including working with development and the Luskin Board of Advisors, departmental alumni boards, event host committees, and other engaged school supporters to provide community linkage to alumni programs. Over the course of the year this position will oversee at least; four off-campus schoolwide alumni events; up to four departmental alumni events; a rotating series of e-newsletters developed in cooperation with department staff to specifically focus on alumni; content for the Alumni Notes pages in the Luskin Forum magazine. This position will also organize alumni career panels to promote alumni-student networking and mentorship, plus provide career coaching to recent alumni (three month's post-graduation). The Director of Alumni Engagement will also manage virtual alumni groups that include UCLA ONE's subgroup for the School and its LinkedIn accounts, as well as providing support student services' large-scale events, including: career fairs, affinity networking events, mock interview, and orientation programing. The position will also expand participation of alumni in the Luskin School's various programs through creative planning and implementation of engagement efforts in conjunction with the UCLA Alumni Association.**Salary & Compensation**
- UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. **Qualifications**
- 5 Years Experience in a role of progressively higher level responsibilities. (required)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for events. Must be able to travel on occasion. Ability to travel out of town for events. (required)
- Advanced ability to supervise support staff, students and volunteers including organizing work flow, training, work review, and delegating responsibility. (required)
- Excellent organizational skills to implement the logístical requirements of events and programs, including materials, information, and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency. Ability to move, carry, set-up and tear down items for events. (required)
- Advance skill in keeping financial records, performing simple financial analyses, preparing and monitoring event budgets, reconciling expenses, projecting expense trends, and preparing budget reports. (required)
- Ability to exercise independent and sound judgement, and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Advanced skill in negotiating and exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate solutions or to arrive jointly at decisions. (required)
- Superior public relations skills, including outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, alumni, students, senior level administrators, staff, campus department personnel, and the public using tact and diplomacy. (required)
- Advanced analytical skill in recognizing potential problems, situations or procedures sufficient to define the problem(s), identify relevant factors, synthesize information, recognize alternatives, and present viable solutions. (required)
- Expert skill in working effectively and interacting diplomatically under time pressures, frequent interruptions and distractions in a fast-paced environment and stressful circumstances. Must have a positive attitude, common sense, poise and adaptability. (required)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work with alumni, students, administrators, and colleagues. Skill in interacting diplomatically and discretely with the public in a public contact setting. (required)
- Excellent writing skills to compose logical and grammatically correct correspondence, minutes of meetings, news items for magazines and brochures, etc. (required)
