JOB SUMMARY The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for and has the authority to deliver nutrition care according to the philosophy, policies, and goals/objectives of the Nutrition Department. The Dietitian assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nutritional processes for individual patient care. The Registered Dietitian makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward nutrition goals and utilizes a professional relationship with the patient and family to facilitate those goals. The Dietitian modifies and delivers care specific to the specific behaviors/needs of patients aged neonate through geriatrics within the scope of service of for the Nutrition Department for all in-patient acute units. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES Provides nutrition screening, assessments, follow-up for patients within applicable policy including nutrition diagnosis and care plan. Collaborates with Nutrition Dietetic Technician Registered (NDTR)for indicated patient nutrition care. Coordinates with healthcare team for patient-centered care. Coordinates nutrition counseling, and education, and community referrals (if indicated). Evaluates effectiveness of nutrition care. Oversees and monitors nutrition screening process. Participates in nutrition education activities outside department setting. Works with department leadership when indicated to support oversight of patient meal services, diet orders, patient menus. Supports patient satisfaction initiatives organizationally and department-based. Upholds the NorthBay Way principle and uses AIDET tools with each patient interaction. Provides support to dietetic intern(s) when assigned in collaboration with Clinical Nutrition Supervisor. Demonstrates the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from social, biological, chemical, and physical sciences in applying the nutrition process. JOB SPECIFICATIONS 1. Education: B.S. degree in Nutrition or Dietetics. Completion of Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)-approved or accredited internship with emphasis on clinical nutrition. 2. Licensure: Currently Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. (Registered Dietitian Eligible is also acceptable if the Commission on Dietetic Registration Exam is scheduled and RD status is obtained within 60 days of hire). California Children Services (CCS) paneled Clinical Registered Dietitian preferred. 3. Experience: At least one-year clinical experience in an acute care hospital or completion of CDR-accredited internship with emphasis on clinical nutrition. 4. Skills: Applies the nutrition care process in providing care. Capable of working independently and applying time management effectively. Requires written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. 5. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the NorthBay Way.
