Mission Critical is an international practice for Burns & McDonnell involving exciting, collaborative work across many departments.

Position available for a mechanical engineer with experience in a variety of facility mechanical system and subsystems including: studies, layout, specification and design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utilities, infrastructure, and controls. Position will focus on the design of large scale manufacturing facilities.

Additional duties include:

+ May develop and evaluate plans for major projects.

+ May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable.

+ Develop flow diagrams, P&IDs, and sequences of operation as required.

+ May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments.

+ Progressive design responsibilities.

+ Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.

+ Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.

+ Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

+ Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.

+ Mission Critical facility design experience is preferred.

+ Experience with energy and HVAC load calculation software a plus.

+ 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

+ Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred.

+ Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

+ Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

+ Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

+ Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.

+ Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
