Job Description

This role is flexible to either a level 7 or level 8 depending on experience.

The Lead Logistics Analyst, Inbound Transportation is responsible for logistics planning and optimization, and operations support for all supply chain centers throughout the US and Canada. This role manages emergency shipments, cost governance, and vendor performance management. The Lead Logistics Analyst can communicate complex logistics issues to a variety of audiences and engage with cross-functional operational and CoE partners.

Main Responsibilities:

Logistics Design, Optimization & Operations
  • Advanced logistics design utilizing forecasted orders and historical shipments ensuring optimal frequency and mode aligned to network routing strategy. Work cross-functionally with central inventory management, supply chain centers, procurement, and carriers to execute.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements within inbound transportation to achieve cost reduction objectives.
  • Calculate total landed cost for new and resourced suppliers and propose optimal product allocation considering the cost of goods, transportation, and warehousing.
  • Coordinate with asset manager for CapEx transportation to develop shipment schedule for dough trays and carts. Plan and execute transportation.
  • Emergency Transportation Support. Coordinate management of transportation to support expedited freight between supply chain centers for emergency situations, ensuring adequate communication across all parties, internally and externally.
  • Act as administrator for FourKites, or applicable Real-time Transportation Visibility and Appointment Scheduling Platform. Onboard providers to the platform. Troubleshoot carrier update compliance. Support centers on dock appointment functionality.
  • Advanced inbound logistics design for new center routing.
Cost Governance and Performance Management
  • Support the development of logistics cost targets to drive weekly target vs. actual improvement. Report on notable impacts, internal and external, and provide root cause analysis and recommended corrective action to reduce logistics costs.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs to capture, submit, maintain, and measure freight claims submission and recovery success.
  • Resolve inbound transportation related questions, concerns, and escalations from operations.
  • Drive improvements to key carrier performance metrics including on-time pickup and delivery, prime tender acceptance, and TMS and Transportation Visibility Platform update compliance.
  • Communicate on carrier performance for central inventory management and operations. Support procurement on QBR planning and transportation team strategies.
Inbound Transportation Analytics
  • Develop, define and maintain KPIs to measure health of inbound transportation network. Including, but not limited to, spend, volume, trailer density utilization, prime tender acceptance, transportation plan vs actual, contracted rate %, on-time pick/delivery, warehouse utilization, and carrier performance.
  • Define and maintain lane level shipment plans. Follow and update SOP for managing origin ship-from changes including surveying suppliers and capture lane contract changes.
  • Capture and maintain operational lane requirements for RFP preparation.
  • Support the review and reconciliation of aging reports submitted by 3rd party providers. Process manual invoices and route for approval.


Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
  2. 3-5+ years of experience in transportation and/or logistics planning, and operations strongly preferred.
  3. Ability to support 24/7 operations, including on-call support for emergency transportation as needed.
  4. Flexibility to think strategically and perform tactically.
  5. Strong analytical background with ability to develop and interpret complex data to drive execution and decision-making.
  6. Proficiency with data transformation and visualization tools preferred (Tableau, PowerBI, Microsoft suite of programs).
  7. Hands-on application experience with Transportation Management System (TMS) and Real-time Transportation Visibility Platforms (RTTVP) strongly preferred.
  8. In-depth understanding of logistics' relationships with other parts of the supply chain ecosystem.
  9. In-depth knowledge of key supply chain/logistics processes and current best practices.
  10. Excellent organization, interpersonal and collaborative communication skills. Strong sense of urgency with a bias towards action. Ability to look at situations from several points of view.
  11. Proven ability to achieve targeted results and operational goals.
