Position Highlights:

Under general supervision, is responsible for insurance verification and eligibility, assessment of patient financial requirements, counseling patients on insurance benefits and co-payments. Obtain pre-authorization of services. Fulfill payor requests for documentation. Obtain and maintains accurate records and documentation of all processes. Perform periodic tracking and audit of the accuracy and completeness of charge entry and transfer and addressing denials. Represent Cancer Care at Denials Committee and other billing meetings. The Financial Counselor assists patients to apply for alternative payment programs and establishes payment plans or other financial arrangements.
What you will need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree in Human Services or Healthcare Administration preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's, PPO's and private insurance coverage.
- ICD-9 and CPT knowledge.
- Two or more years of Medical/Business Office experience preferred
- Knowledge of General and Cancer-Related Assistance Programs.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish goals
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate using telephone, fax, email and general mail correspondence.
- Ability to analyze data
- Excellent computer skills MS Word and Excel knowledge.
- Proven ability to assume increasing level of responsibility
Pay range: $18.50-$24.66
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
