Devops Engineer

A DevOps Engineers role is primarily focused on systems engineering and administration duties to provide stability, automation, configuration, backup, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation and updates to the companys infrastructure.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Rundeck, Puppet, and Ansible

Collaborate with software developers to optimize application performance and reliability.

Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, backup, and alerting solutions to ensure the health and availability of our systems.

Automate repetitive tasks and manual processes to improve efficiency and reduce human error.

Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.

Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents to minimize downtime and ensure system stability.

Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve our infrastructure and development processes.

Research, test, and deploy tools as needed on a project basis.

Develop and provide documentation/training on procedures.

Implement and maintain database security measures including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability assessments

Monitor and tune database performance to ensure efficient operation and response times

Automate database administration tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a focus on infrastructure

Strong expertise in cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred) and related services

Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

Solid understanding of infrastructure as code principles, and experience with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Gitlab CI/CD experience preferred)

Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (ELK stack and Sensu experience a plus).

Experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus.

Education and Experience:

5+ years of experience in a distributed systems environment in a DevOps or SRE role

Bachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
