The Texas JUA is the insurance of last resort. We are looking for a claims consultant with 2 to 5 years general liability insurance experience. As the claim consultant, you are responsible for administering in-house claims and applying the practices and procedures for the claims department. The role consists of the management, documentation and adjudication of claims based on JUA’s Best Practices. This may involve travel for cases throughout Texas. Determine coverage and advise insured of restrictions and/or exclusions which may apply through the life of the file; if no coverage, provide declination to insured/agent Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate to ultimately resolve claims that arise with policyholders Review files on diary and document related file handling transactions, which includes proper evaluation of reserves as developments occur Monitors and directs defense counsel through discovery, trial, and appeal process with the mindset to limit unnecessary expenses Represent JUA/Insured at mediations and trials; participate to resolve losses in good faith Review and approve bills related to defense of claims and work with accounting to issue payment Complete state board of insurance reporting form and national bank data reporting form when required Keep the Underwriting and Accounting departments apprised of any relevant activity Assist in processing various audits and reports concerning claims Assist in preparations for Annual/Board Meetings Benefits Opportunity for annual salary adjustments and performance bonus Flexible work hours starting from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM; 7.5 hours normal work day Medical benefits 90% covered by employer Retirement savings plan: 401k savings plan with company match Retirement savings plan: Pension funded by the company Vacation time and holiday pay with opportunity to accrue up to 3 PTO days a month Approved training expenses covered by the employer Company phone and corporate card for business use
