OverviewBuildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting and unique opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Custodian II at the State Office Building in Bennington. This position is responsible for general cleaning work for a multiple office workspace. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting clinical areas, carpet cleaning, caring for and maintaining hard floors, as well as office cleaning.This position will work Monday through Friday, 3pm to 11:30pm. A background check is required. BGS is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their mission. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required. Minimum QualificationsOne (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.OROne (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.Special RequirementsSome positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
