Plant Accountant

Position Overview: The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance department with a variety of accounting tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Prepare and process daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Complete month-end and year-end closing processes with little to know oversight.
  • Generate financial reports and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and assist in budget preparation.
  • Review and process invoices, ensuring proper coding and authorization.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and conducting periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Support cost accounting activities, including tracking production costs and analyzing variances.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as accounting standards and regulations.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform other accounting-related tasks as assigned by the finance manager.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (will also consider candidates without a degree but with significant work history)
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
