Summary of Responsibilities:

The prep cook will be critical in assisting with meal preparation, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:

Perform routine kitchen tasks

Follow the prep list created to plan duties

Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible

Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking

Assist in preparing ingredients for menu items

Follow recipes and portion control guidelines

Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees

Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash

Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and gathering spices

Monitor kitchen and food inventory levels

Cook and plate dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards

Follow food and safety protocols and guidelines

Ensure all food products are properly stored and rotated

Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure timely and efficient food production

Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED is preferred

One year related experience or training is required

Ability to read and comprehend English

Current food handler card is required

Skills and Requirements:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming

Must be able to work in an environment that requires physical activity under time constraints

Must be able to work with all products and food ingredients used in the kitchen

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing, Diversity and Inclusion Training within the first 30 days of employment

Scheduling:

Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working outside of business hours, weekends, and non-traditional holidays

May be required to be on-call and aid during times of high demand

Environment:

Exposure to an environment typically found in a hotel or restaurant

Physical Requirements:
