Pet Food Express is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Coordinator to join our finance team. The Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of invoices, managing vendor accounts, and ensuring timely payments. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, this role is crucial in maintaining financial records and upholding strong relationships with vendors. The Coordinator will also supervise and lead 3-4 junior team members, guiding their development and enhancing team performance. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Please Note: This position is a hybrid role, involving on-site work each week at our corporate headquarters in Concord, CA. Candidates who are fully remote or outside of reasonable commuting distance will not be considered at this time.

Responsibilities:

* Invoice Processing: Receive, review, and process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently. * Payment Processing: Prepare and process payments via check, electronic transfer, or other methods in accordance with company policies and procedures. * Vendor Management: Maintain vendor accounts, including reconciling statements, resolving discrepancies, and responding to vendor inquiries in a timely manner. * Expense Reports: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies. * Month-End Closing: Assist with month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and accruals related to accounts payable. * Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including electronic and physical filing systems. * Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations related to accounts payable. * Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements within the accounts payable function. * Reporting: Generate reports and provide analysis related to accounts payable as needed. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including procurement and finance, to resolve issues and improve processes.

Qualifications:

* Professional Experience and Education: * Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable in a similar role. * At least 1 year in a supervisory capacity, overseeing accounting professionals (highly preferred). * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. * Certification in Accounts Payable is a plus.

* Technical Skills: * Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. * Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is advantageous.

* Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: * High level of accuracy and attention to detail in processing invoices and payments. * Ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose effective solutions.

* Organizational Skills: * Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

* Communication and Interpersonal Skills: * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders. * Collaborative attitude and willingness to work closely with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.

* Adaptability and Integrity: * Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment. * Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in handling financial information and transactions.

* Regulatory Knowledge: * Familiarity with industry-specific accounting practices and regulations.

The salary range for this position is expected to be $78,000/yr-$92,000/yr. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate's actual skills and experience.
