Assistant Controller in Boston, MA

Join a prominent real estate investment firm as an Assistant Controller, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational matters for assigned portfolios. Responsibilities:
  • Oversee property and/or debt investment accounting staff, reviewing reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Lead monthly closing and consolidation process for assigned portfolios.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results for discussion with senior executives.
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and investor reports.
  • Ensure compliance with partnership agreements and investor side letters.
  • Manage investment management and incentive fee calculations.
  • Prepare joint venture waterfall calculations and capital accounts.
  • Calculate distributions to partners and manage debt covenant compliance.
  • Oversee external audit process and manage third-party relationships.
  • Develop and manage Performance Reporting Accounting staff.
  • Enhance internal controls surrounding financial reporting disclosure.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting concentration preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in real estate or private equity industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and manage variable workloads.
  • CPA license and public accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to technology changes.
