Senior Accounting Manager Purpose:

The purpose of the Senior Accounting Manager is to manage day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, external compliance reporting, and help provide direction and oversight for the accounting function. This person implements accounting controls to ensure timely, accurate processing of transactional data and reporting of financial data. The Senior Accountant Manager should have an acute awareness that he/she is providing information that is the lifeblood of the corporation, and thus, has a critical sense of ownership and urgency on processing, reporting, and analyzing financial information. He/she should demonstrate a thorough understanding of accounting principles. This includes developing/managing systems and software to provide critical financial and operational data to the organization. This position reports directly to the CFO. Responsibilities: Mastering the Company's accounting software and fully utilizing it to process transactions and report data Accurate, timely processing of business transaction data (including invoicing to customers, paying vendors, etc.) Closing the books accurately and timely Ensuring compliance with regulations Communicating relevant information to the CFO Managing senior accounting staff Preparing financial statements Analyzing financial results Manage aging payables Manage the payroll function Reporting to external parties, such as property tax assessments, franchise tax returns, sales tax returns, etc. Continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting function Qualifications: Accounting degree CPA preferred 10+ years of accounting experience Prefer 4+ years of public accounting experience Prefer 4+ years of construction accounting experience Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures Experience with the monthly/yearly closing process Excellent software skills/abilities a must
