Summary

The program specialist will provide administrative supportfor the Center for Inherited Muscle Research. The program specialist will beresponsible for providing overall program support, including scheduling, fiscalmanagement and human resources support. The program specialist will be requiredto be familiar with all aspects of the Center activities in order to providesupport for both the overall operations as well as day to day. The positionrequires a high degree of flexibility, confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.Successful applicants will have strong initiative with good judgement andstrong written and verbal communication skills.

Core Duties

•(50%): Director, Co-Director and other Faculty Scheduling
o Maintain assigned schedule in appropriate software (MS Outlook, Teams, Zoom)
o : Respond to meeting request promptly
o : Cross check department and program calendars regularly and advise appropriate
stakeholders of conflict, as well as propose possible solutions
o : Document meeting minutes and disseminate appropriately
o : Communicate in a clear and effective way to all stakeholders

•(30%): Event Planning & Coordination

o : Invite guest speakers
o : Facilitate travel and lodging arrangements
o : Tracks and files required supporting documentation as needed

•(20%): Other Tasks & Duties as assigned
o: Assist where needed with other activities such as grants submission prep, fiscal reporting preparation, and day to day management of center operations Bachelor's degree and 0-3 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Essential Qualifications

•Associates or Bachelor's degree or equivalent applicable experience
•Experience with software programs and databases, including MS Office (including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint)
•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

•2+ years experiences as an administrative assistant in fast paced environment
•Experience in healthcare environment, clinical research, public or business administration
