OUR MATERIALS MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR POSITION
The primary focus for our

Director, Materials Management

is to provide results-driven leadership to the materials management, supply chain management, purchasing, planning, shipping/receiving, and inventory departments.
Key areas of accountability include, but not limited to, planning, budgeting, purchasing, resource management, warehousing, scheduling, training, supplier management and continued improvement of responsible areas. In addition, this position will work as part of cross departmental teams involved in production planning and materials planning meetings to set goals. The director will provide input and data to support the budget and strategic planning process, as well as identify and develop strategic suppliers/partnerships to support the companys goals.

This position reports to the Vice President, Operations.

SHIFTS & STATUS

This is a FULL TIME, EXEMPT position.

Main Responsibilities

Leads and directs all aspects of supply chain process to assure the delivery of the correct service/product, when needed, in the correct amount, to all departments and residences.

Leads a cross functional team in the development, documentation and implementation of policies and processes to assure successful material management and inventory programs to support organizational key results.

Negotiates major contracts for equipment, services and supplies, and assists all departments with contract negotiations, as needed or requested.

Identifies and implements innovations in technology and materials management processes, to support current and future needs of the organization.

Assures prompt and complete fulfillment of special orders for Post-Acute Care Center.

Manages and documents processing of enteral tube feeding (ETF) orders for the skilled nursing center.

Facilitates evaluation and implementation of new products and services for the organization by coordinating and supporting research of new product/service with key internal (and external) stakeholders, beta testing and evaluating success of new product/service after implementation Convenes and conducts quarterly business reviews with major vendors and internal stakeholders.

Implements a RFI or RFP process for selection of new services and capital equipment as necessary Manages organizational operational activities/processes including budgeting, payroll approval.

Responsible for organizational mail processing/distribution and fleet vehicle inspections and registration renewals

Conducts invoice reconciliation between supplier invoices, account payable and receiving.

Performs supply utilization analysis.

Reviews and approves resident transport invoices.

Reviews and approves invoices for mobile devices.

Manages rental of durable medical equipment (DME) Attracts, develops and manages multidisciplinary teams to conduct material management and inventory operations that is consistent with the organizations culture and values.

Participates as a member of the safety management team and other committees and task forces as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

Biomedical Devices and Other Equipment

Provides oversight and manages DME vendors and equipment including: prepares annual budget, obtains satisfaction feedback from end-users, coordinates repair requests, and monitors safety evaluations of DME.

Develops and maintains five-year plan for medical equipment capital replacement.

Leads ongoing development, implementation and utilization of Procurement and Inventory Management system (SMARTPO)

Contract Management

Provides oversight and liaises with ancillary services vendors including (but not limited to): x-ray, respiratory therapy, laboratory and pharmacy services.

Manages relationship with vendors to ensure contract terms and conditions are fulfilled Consults with clinical teams to ensure service expectations are met.

Maximizes financial performance; education internally on cost issues/trends.

Reviews monthly invoices for billing accuracy. Work with vendors on billing issues and validate that services were actually rendered.

Resolves performance issues/concerns relating to materials DME and other equipment including: ensuring completion of incident reports and identification of policy or process improvement(s) /insure completion of incident reports; identify areas for improvement.

Develops annual department budgets and documents variances monthly.

Ensure optimal participation in GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) agreements to maximize price savings, rebates, and commitment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

B.S. degree in business, accounting, marketing or related health care fields required.

Certified Materials Resources Professional (CMRP) preferred.

5 to 7 years management experience in the field of materials management.

Materials and services purchasing and distribution in the health care industry required.

Experience in multi-facility system, and with public bidding, inventory and materials management information systems preferred.
