The Human Resources Intern is a temporary position within the Human Resources team that will be responsible for administering a job catalog project from start to finish that will set the groundwork for important future Human Resources initiatives. The ideal candidate can expect to gain valuable experience in communicating with department leaders, developing strong organizational and project management skills, and navigating HR systems.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with department leaders to revise or develop thorough and accurate job descriptions.
  • Ensure finalized job descriptions are formatted and all pertinent information is captured.
  • Leveraging Excel to transfer job responsibilities into job catalog and code roles in accordance with compensation job matching categories.
  • Match cataloged positions to active employees and develop sophisticated process automation for e-signature documents.
  • Present overall program learnings and results to key stakeholders upon completion of internship.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Human Resources Intern will partner with R&D interns to coordinate a community service and/or company engagement event to gain leadership and project management experience.

This role may oversee organizing the electronic filing system and general data entry.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be a current or recently graduated student with a degree in Human Resources or a closely related field looking to gain experience in general Human Resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Coursework in Human Resources required. Progression towards/Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or closely related field strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to:
  • Read, write, comprehend written, electronic, spoken instructions, memos, correspondence, communicate verbally by phone and electronically in a professional manner in English.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one, large and small group situations to employees.
  • Compile data into reports and summaries.
REASONING ABILITY

Ability to:
  • Work independently to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Develop positive relationships and effect results.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
COMPUTER SKILLS

Working knowledge of:
  • Microsoft office, including Word, Outlook with meeting management, and Excel. Ability to learn and use internal business software, including HRIS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit
  • The employee must be able to operate a keyboard, calculator and telephone
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The work location is an office setting - there is moderate walking between buildings.
  • Typical workday attendance will require standard business hours.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may at times be exposed to smells and fumes.
