Our Corporate Accounting department is looking to hire an Accounting Manager for their team This role manages the organization's corporate accounting function and will have cross-functional visibility and the opportunity to work alongside internal groups, such as Portfolio & Asset Management, Client Service & Marketing, and external service providers. Our team works in a hybrid environment, working 1-2 days in Heitman's Chicago office each week.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a demonstrated history of effectively managing and developing a team and fostering strong working relationships with others throughout the organization. They will be self-starters with strong problem-solving and analytical skills while working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. They will also demonstrate strong organizational skills and adeptness at multitasking, coupled with a proven track record of successfully leading and developing professional staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Managers and directs the corporate accounting function while directly overseeing and developing 3 individual contributors.
  • Prepare financial reports for business unit heads, executive management and partners.
  • Oversee day-to-day global accounting (including A/R and A/P), payroll and expense reimbursement functions, and train as a backup where needed.
  • Manage and review the monthly closing cycle and prepare the global consolidation.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and manage the global corporate audits of the firm.
  • Collaborate with members of other departments throughout the organization to deliver pertinent and timely information to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate third-party accounting service providers in the US and abroad.
  • Prepare financial analysis to provide management with financial data and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Recommend, develop, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, reports and systems to facilitate efficient operations and improve internal controls.
  • Prepare or review various domestic and international regulatory filings.
  • Work with tax providers in the US and abroad to facilitate the preparation of annual tax returns.
  • Operate as subject matter expert for accounting systems and troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Assist Controller with special projects.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment.
  • Experience working in a global company is highly desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • CPA or CA preferred.
  • Public accounting and/or real estate industry experience is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Concur is a plus.
  • Excellent communicator with strong writing skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities or deadlines, navigate through unexpected challenges, stay calm under pressure, and bring about viable solutions that provide the best results for the company and its clients.
  • Experience managing a team with proven exceptional client service delivery.
  • Track record of successfully managing all disciplines within the accounting function.
