Our local client is searching for a Grant Accountant to help manage and assist in fiscal policies, programs, and procedures, focusing on grants accounting, capital operations, budgeting, and auditing. This role involves considerable independent judgment in monitoring financial procedures, ensuring consistency with the College's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee federal, state, and local grants, including financial policies and procedures.
  • Handle payroll, accounts payable, budget, general accounting, and revenue accounting.
  • Create standard procedures for financial reporting and data compilation.
  • Work with department managers to ensure adherence to financial controls and regulations.
  • Contribute to the annual departmental budget and report preparation.
  • Review financial activities to ensure compliance and resolve issues.
  • Improve automated financial management systems for auditing and reporting.
  • Update procedures in budgeting, reimbursement, auditing, and asset recovery.
  • Ensure compliance and proper fund dispersal, prepare related reports.
  • Review all College-wide grants for accuracy in reporting and compliance with deadlines.
  • Assist with financial systems applications and participate in software testing.
  • Act as the departmental representative for grants, fiscal operations, and capital matters.
  • Utilize spreadsheets, word processing, email, calendar, and database software.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance
  • Five years in financial operations, including three years of grant accounting oversight and two years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of modern accounting and auditing practices, budgetary management, automated financial systems, office procedures, and applicable laws. Effective communication and relationship-building skills. Proficiency in computer applications.
