Overview:

The Project Management Office (PMO) of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Project Controls Specialist to support the project controls efforts on work within the Facilities and Operations Directorate, working primarily with small scale construction projects.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

* Work with project managers to establish budgets and schedules for projects.

* Track monthly progress, including generation of cost/schedule reports and charts, variance analysis reports, ad-hoc reporting as required. Compile a monthly report for management.

* Review processes for improvement opportunities.

* Support FMD, Utilities, research programs, and other stakeholders to help projects successfully meet their milestones.

* Communicate regularly with all stakeholders to ensure teams are informed about project milestones, spending, and upcoming schedule issues and impacts.

Basic Qualifications:

* A BS/BA degree with a minimum of two years relevant experience.

* Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Oracle Primavera, MS Excel, and custom system and report development.

* Strong communications skills, with the ability to successfully interact with DOE, project reviewers, senior laboratory management and other project staff members.

Preferred Qualifications:

* A BS/BA degree in project or construction management, business, science, engineering or equivalent.

* Completed project management training and/or certification.

* Good understanding of and experience with: Oracle Primavera, Deltek Cobra or similar cost processors, risk analysis and simulation software, MS Excel, change control applications, and custom system and report development.

* Previous experience with similar projects.

* Master's degree in project or construction management, business, engineering or equivalent.
