This position is located at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Essential Functions Provide operations, maintenance & technical support for ALCOR (C-band) and MMW (Ka-band) radar RF systems. Provide design modifications and improvements for both ALCOR & MMW; this includes creating schematics and implementing modifications as well as directing activities of technicians and helpers to properly install these design modifications. Support maintenance efforts on RF systems; direct technicians and helpers to accomplish these maintenance activities. Perform testing and failure analysis of the RF system down to the component level; design and implement corrective measures to prevent future failures. Modify and maintain documentation for RF systems including but not limited to equipment schematics and manuals; verify drafting changes to drawings and manuals meet engineering requirements. Required Skills Solid knowledge of the fundamentals of RF architecture. Basic knowledge and ability to learn the use and operation of transmitter amplifiers to include: Klystrons, Travelling Wave Tubes (TWT's), Vacuum Tubes and transistor devices. Ability to effectively use high frequency/high power, RF and millimeter wave electronic equipment with RF calibration to perform complex measurements in both time and frequency domains. Familiarity with coaxial and waveguide RF switching, radar protective and T/R switches, analog and digital control hardware, RFI shielding practices. Work independently with limited guidance. Assist in development of junior engineers and technicians. Understanding of the unique safety issues associated with working at high power RF and X-radiation levels that are common in this work environment. Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Two or more years' RF and/or Radar experience including: Field Installation and testing, calibration, troubleshooting and acceptance testing. Design and development engineering. Project management. Developing and testing RF systems up to and including Ka-Band. RF to millimeterwave frequency measurements. High power RF measurement and high voltage troubleshooting, desired. Mission Operations and Weapons test range systems experience, desired. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley hardware and software, desired. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Physical ability to climb and work at heights up to 50 ft. The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements. Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship. Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
