Description

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This role involves preparing financial statements, performing complex reconciliations, managing general ledger activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Senior Accountant also supports audits and provides insights into financial data to assist in strategic decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data and present reports on financial performance.
General Ledger Management:
  • Oversee and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations, including bank statements, intercompany accounts, and fixed assets.
Month-End and Year-End Closing:
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all entries are recorded and financial statements are finalized.
  • Prepare and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Compliance and Auditing:
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit schedules as required.
Tax Preparation and Reporting:
  • Assist in preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Manage tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial data and analysis.
  • Assist in monitoring budget variances and implementing corrective actions.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in accounting.
Team Collaboration:
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on general ledger and financial reporting.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, advanced Excel skills, and knowledge of ERP systems.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Working conditions:

Work Environment: Office-based.

Work Hours: Standard business hours, with potential for overtime during peak periods.
