This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of special purpose facilities and equipment. Essential DutiesSet-up and tear-down of tables, chairs, risers, stages and lighting equipment, sports equipment and other related equipment associated with the various facilitiesRepair and maintenance of facilities and equipment including carpentry, painting, drywall, fleet, and miscellaneous systems in the maintenance of public access, office and parking areas;Operate a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery such as forklifts, trucks, electric carts, small hand tools, and floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaning equipmentMay provide work direction to part-time or temporary workers or oversee event operationsWorking knowledge of welding and rigging is preferred.Perform routine maintenance and care for parking lots, grounds, lawn, and landscaping maintenanceRelated duties as assignedThe CommunityTacoma is a mid-sized port city that sits along the Puget Sound with a population of nearly 210,000. QualificationsAn equivalent combination to: two years' experience in the building trades industry performing building maintenance, custodial, and grounds maintenance work; or two years' apprentice training in the carpentry, metal, pipe-fitting or electrical trades.Licenses, Certifications and Other Legal RequirementsValid Washington Driver's License at time of appointment with maintenance thereafter.Working ConditionsWork is performed in indoor and outdoor environments at multiple sport and entertainment venues and is subject to adverse weather conditions, fumes/chemicals, lifting up to 75 pounds, standing, walking, stooping, crawling, and climbing a variety of equipment. Must be able to work in a safe and efficient manner in a fast-paced environment. Work Hours:Non-traditional work hours are required for this position. This position requires the employee to work on a variety of shifts, including day, swing and graveyard.
