Senior Accountant - Financial Institution
Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ

Schedule: 5 days a week in the office

Salary: $90,000

Role Overview
A well-established financial institution is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This key position involves preparing financial reports, managing regulatory filings, overseeing internal controls, and supporting critical finance department projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and evaluate monthly financial reports for the bank, parent company, and subsidiaries
  • Review month-end closing activities and manage Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, and Investment portfolios
  • Draft and review SEC reports (10-Q, 10-K) and quarterly FDIC Call Reports
  • Ensure general ledger accuracy, perform daily balancing, and monthly reconciliations
  • Participate in internal control assessments, SOX compliance, and coordinate with external auditors
  • Create comprehensive reports for executive management and the board of directors
  • Provide coaching and training to Staff Accountants
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from various departments and senior leadership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (required)
  • Experience in banking and regulatory/SEC reporting (strongly preferred)
  • CPA certification (preferred)
Skills
  • Proficient in financial software systems (e.g., general ledger and reporting tools)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
