End date Opportunity type Job Category Warehouse / Supply Chain / Drivers Job responsibilities The Director of Operations will manage the warehouse staff; create monthly warehouse schedules to ensure daily coverage; implement and maintain standards of performance for receiving and handling of delivery orders, picking orders, and shipping product. The Director of Operations is responsible for maintaining a structured receipting and distribution process along with providing excellent customer service to food pantry partners (agencies) and food donors; developing and implementing a strategy for improving key performance indicators including but not limited to damages, incident rates, overtime, pick rates, and accuracy. It is the responsibility of the Director of Operations to ensure inventory is distributed in a safe and efficient manner to identified distribution partners; establish and maintain workflow processes as necessary to meet poundage delivery goals as well as performance standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with the COO, Director of Compliance, Director of Facilities, to ensure OSHA, Fire Department, USDA, DOT, Feeding America and AIB compliance requirements are met as well as all Federal, State and Local codes; and serve as a member of the safety team. Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree and extensive relevant work experience in non-profit programs, food service distribution, and/or food banking 2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a food warehouse and or processing plant. 3. Must understand the importance of produce rotation, expiration dates, FIFE vs FIFO. 4. Strong quantitative, analysis, customer service, project management, organizational, time-management, and budgeting skills. 5. Problem solver – ability to respond proactively to identifying and solving issues. 6. Proven leadership and management skills including building effective teams, delegation with authority and accountability, strategic management, conflict management, coaching/mentoring 7. Proficiency with MS Office software and web-based software programs 8. Ability to collaborate with staff, volunteers, donors, agencies, vendors, and members of the local community 9. Ability to communicate effectively through different channels with people of diverse backgrounds and socio-economic levels 10. Ability to understand and interpret reporting and compliance requirements of various programs 11. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation a must Physical Demands: 1. Work is performed in an open office environment at a computer screen for extended periods 2. Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time 3. Ability to lift, move and boxes or bags between 10-30 pounds Additional Requirements 1. Some travel during the business day is required in the Lowcountry Food Bank’s service area 2.
