Description

Position Purpose and Objectives

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Engineer provides support in the care and upkeep of TCU buildings with required duties, projects and daily work as assigned.

Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Monitor, operate and provide routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems including HVAC, pumps, valves and controls
  • Modify building equipment systems
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and recommend maintenance operations
  • Operate life safety/fire systems
  • Inspect buildings, ground and equipment for malfunctions
  • Ensure that new installations are compliant with building codes and safety regulations
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations and concerns
  • Perform welding, carpentry and snow removal when necessary
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostic and repairs on equipment including refrigerators, ice machines and air conditioners
  • Replace fan motors, blower motor, contractors and other related parts on the HVAC rooftop and split systems
  • Complete work orders for a variety of structure and equipment repairs while estimating time and materials effectively and ordering necessary materials for repair completion
  • Oversee and inspect the work of outside contractors
  • Complete all necessary paperwork upon finalization of work order
  • Perform daily inspection of building systems
  • Perform roof repairs and preventive maintenance cleaning of drains and patch repair
  • Responsible for inspection and adjustment of HVAC components
  • Monitoring and balancing of interior air flow and temperature
  • Operation of computerized building control systems
  • Diagnosis and correction of equipment malfunctions
  • Monitoring and adjustment of chemicals used to treat various water systems
  • Investigation of complaints regarding equipment
  • Repair cabinets
  • Install white boards and hang pictures and install shelves
  • Install floor tiles and repair cracks in floors
  • Replace acoustical ceiling tiles
  • 26. Repair locks, door handles, closers and related items
  • Perform electrical repairs such as lights and sign ballast, light switches and wiring
  • Replace broken water lines and repair faucets, toilets and sewer lines
  • Replace wax rings and Sloan valves
  • Paint interior offices, lobbies and hallways
  • Replace light bulbs and fixtures (tombstones and other fixture parts)
  • Replace photo cells and time clocks (adjust the time as needed)
  • Travel to TCU facilities around the Metroplex and perform the same maintenance as listed above
  • Perform PM maintenance on the Texans automobiles
Requirements

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:
  • Knowledge of and experience with performing building maintenance,
  • Troubleshooting and repairs of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems, upkeep of grounds and structures.
  • Experience with work order systems such as KACE ticketing.
  • Ability to identify and conduct needs for routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with employees, vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all maintenance and repairs are thoroughly.
  • Completed and potential hazards or warning signs of potential are identified.


Education : High school diploma or equivalent required, professional certifications would

be a plus.
