ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Collect trash from all outside trash cans throughout the Gardens Check all restrooms, stock and clean as shown on schedule and/or needed Sweep outside walkways of Visitor Center, Café, and Gift Shop areas as needed Clean and maintain buildings of BTG including, but not limited to the Visitor Center, Exhibit Hall, Bathrooms, Theatre, Horticulture Offices and Building, Information Booth, Annex Storage, Olmsted house, North Walk Restrooms, Discovery Center Restrooms, Discovery Center ClassroomSweeping, mopping, collecting trash, dusting ceilings/walls, cleaning interior and exterior windows/mirrors Be visible and available to assist visitors with questions and/or problems Monitor all public facilities (gardens, restrooms, picnic areas, etc.) to ensure their cleanliness and presentation for the public SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Detail oriented Dependable and punctual work attendance Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, and multi-tasking capabilities Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions Ability to operate standard equipment used for custodial/janitorial purposes - ladders, step stools, handcarts, vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, radios, etc. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Ability to drive golf carts safely through Gardens Excellent internal customer service skills RequirementsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED; plus, minimum of one (1) year of experience in custodial/janitorial work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience WORKING CONDITIONS:Working hours are Thursday-Monday 10:00AM - 6:00PM or Tuesday-Saturday 10:00AM-6:00PM. Some exposure to general cleaning chemicals used for janitorial purposes Able to work outside in summer and winter climates Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, repetitive arm motions or light lifting (up to 60 lbs.) Continuous communication and/or interaction with staff, volunteers, and visitors Salary Description $15.00/hour
